Kalaunji Saloni is basically a snack which is now available everywhere. Only one can say that the method of making and ingredients vary. I put only kalaunji  (onion seeds) and cut it differently to make it look attractive and to taste differently. Saloni is a dry Non-spilling snack good to carry during travelling. Kalaunji put in saloni is a Non-fatening spice, blood purifier and keeps the muscles strong. So, saloni is safe for diet controllers. Enjoy anytime with tea with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • Refined flour (maida) : 250 gms
  • Oil for mixing and kneading the dough : ¼ cup of the measuring cup
  • Salt : ½ tsp or as per taste
  • Kalaunji (onion seeds) : 1 tsp
  • Water : as required
  • Oil for frying : 250gms

Method

Step 1

Sieve the refined flour in a large deep platter.

Step 2

Mix the ¼ cup of oil and rub it evenly with the help of your palms. The flour should make a dry ball when pressed with fingers.

Now add the salt and kalaunji.

Step 4

Knead putting water gradually to form a tough dough.

Make two big balls of the whole dough.

Step 6

Roll into a 1 mm thin big chapatti. Then cut 1mm thin strips length wise and again 2 ½ strips breadth wise.

Now fry these strips on low-medium flame till golden and crisp.

Remove on soaking paper store in a jar when cool and crisp.

Serve with any dip.
