This preparation can be served as a Prasaad during fasting days as it does not have onion and ginger.I remember this dish being made as a part of bhog and taken into the Puja room in a covered thaal. The gravy accompanied with pooris made in ghee would fill the Puja room with tempting aroma.
- Potatoes - 2 big size cut into 6-8 pieces
- Tomatoes - 2 medium size cut into four pieces
- Green chilli - 2 sliced
- Ginger - grated 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves - few finely chopped
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1 cup
Heat oil in a pan and put cumin seeds. Once it turns red put the green chillis, tomatoes and turmeric powder. After stiring for a while put the potatoes and grated ginger.
Put the water and let it boil for 5mins till the tomatoes turn soft. Put salt and coriander leaves and let it boil for another minute.
Mash one or two potatoes pieces to make the gravy thick.
Serve hot along with hot Pooris.
