Sweet pua is a offering made for shiv-Parvati on Santaan-Saptami. Santaan Saptami is a fast done by mothers for the children and to be blessed by a son. It is a puja done in Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand region. Sweet pua is basically puris made by adding sugar along with dry fruits like coconut, charoli, cashewnuts, poppy seeds and cardamom powder. Sweet pua are rich in protein and is a good munch for fussy children which taste like biscuits. As maida (refined flour) is not used, it is very easy to
- Wheat flour : 900 gms
- Sugar : 300 gms soaked and dissolved in water
- Oil : 100 gms ( for mixing)
- Charoli (chiraunji) & cashewnut (kaju) : 50-50 gms coarsely grounded
- Grated coconut : 50 gms
- Cardamom powder : 1 tsp
- Oil for frying : 400 gms
- Water : as required for kneading
Take wheat flour, mix the oil in it. Then add all the dry fruits and cardamom powder. Mix it well with all these ingredients.
In this mixture add the sugar water and knead. We can add more water if required to form tough dough.
Make small balls and roll into small puris or can make a big round and cut into small round with a round cookie cutter.
Fry on medium flame till golden and done.
